It is a pleasure to welcome you to our Launching Place Primary School website.  Thank you for taking to time to visit us. Please explore the information here as a brief introduction to our community. 

Launching Place Primary School is situated in an attractive, natural bushland setting behind the Jadodade Community Park, sixty kilometres east of Melbourne in the Upper Yarra Valley, within the Shire of the Yarra Ranges.  Our school enrolment is currently 170 students, with 15 staff. 

Our curriculum is based on the understanding that students learn best through being engaged and active in their learning.  We provide a comprehensive and sequential curriculum using our gradual release, ‘I do, we do, you do’ model for teaching and learning.  Our high-quality staff provide a caring and stimulating learning environment for all.  Specialist classes in Japanese, the Arts and Physical Education, ensure that all Launching Place students have the opportunity to learn in varied ways.  Through these opportunities, our teachers aim to create experiences that inspire students to learn and to continually challenge their personal best.  We pride ourselves on the continued academic success of our children as we prepare them to be contributing citizens in our local and wider community.

To further support our classroom and specialist programs, we offer Challenge programs for students who require extension beyond the classroom; programs such as Literacy and Numeracy extension and Japanese.  In addition, Literacy and Mathematics support, identifies students who require specialised intervention early in their schooling and puts them on the right path to achieving their educational goals.  All our students are supported in the classroom with challenging work at their level.

At Launching Place, we value community involvement in the education of our children.  Our school has a wonderful community feel, that continues to be developed and nurtured under the premise that, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’  We are committed to providing a safe, positive, caring and welcoming school that caters for all individual differences and needs, educating the whole child.
