At Launching Place Primary School, every grade has a session of Physical Education once a week for 1 hour. During P.E, students will have a range of opportunities to participate in different sports and to develop lifelong skills which can be used to participate in group sports and community events. In addition to this, we offer an extensive range of other sport programs such kayaking, orienteering, triathlons, swimming, interschool sports and many more. Students can enjoy participating in a particular sport at a local level within their school but can also work through to the division programs and state levels. We utilise our fantastic environment in the Yarra Valley so we like to set up students to use the river for kayaking, the local archery park and Maroondah Dam for orienteering.
Prep to Grade 2 students also participate in the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). This is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills.
Grade 3-6 students also participate in level sport for an hour each week. This involves playing a range of different games and sports to help improve on their fitness and sporting skills whilst teaching them about team work, sportmanship and strategy.
